Judge Krebs is the former Mayor of Portland, a position he held for 14 years. As Portland Mayor, he helped advance key community projects, including new recreational facilities. In his role as County Judge, Krebs has demonstrated consistent, committed leadership on issues ranging from economic development & infrastructure to regional water planning.
Beyond his official duties, Krebs remains actively engaged in local civic organizations like Lions Clubs International, where he has held leadership roles and received humanitarian awards. Krebs was a volunteer firefighter for 20 years and serves on the MPO Transportation Policy Committee and the Coastal Bend Council of Governments.
Judge Krebs has led the effort to modernize San Patricio County’s infrastructure and essential services. He has supported the new San Patricio County Judicial Center along with the restoration & modernization of the historic 100-year-old courthouse. He also developed a long-term plan for a new county jail so the county’s justice system remains strong, efficient, and prepared for future growth. Judge Krebs helped establish the County Emergency Operations Center (EOC), which strengthens public safety & disaster response capabilities.

By creating the County Grants Department in 2022, he has responsibly & transparently managed more than $67 million across 107 active projects. His leadership has delivered financial assistance for veterans, advanced critical water infrastructure, modernized county technology, and expanded internet connectivity.
